Post by: Papa Deuce on December 13, 2017, 08:06:58 PM
I want to try it in the spring, and can't find it in the book.

Headed to Williamsport when the water warms.

What you can find in the rules are what is allowed. 3 rods per angler, and you must be present and physically monitoring them. What that means is pretty much up to the officer. One guy might let you take a walk to your car for a sandwich and another might bust you for looking away from your rod. You technically could use the diddy rods (3) as long as your there to watch them.

FM how do children factor in when fishing more poles?  Can each of them have 3 as well?  So 3 of us equals 9 catfish rods?

Yeah I'm not thinking the diddy pole.  That made me think though, most times we catfish we use 5 or 6 rods, I assumed the kids counted toward the 3 rod limits.  Thanks

From the PA Regulations...

RODS, LINES, AND HOOKS An angler may use a maximum of three lines fished either by rod or hand when fishing for gamefish, baitfish or both. An exception to this rule exists for those fishing through ice in winter (see Ice Fishing Equipment below). On open water (not covered by ice), it is unlawful for a person to fish with more than three fishing rods at a time. There is no restriction on the number of hooks used on each fishing line. All rods, lines and hooks shall be under the immediate control of the person using them.

Trotlines lines with multiple, baited hooks spaced along their lengths, that are placed in the water and left there to catch fish while the angler is elsewhere would remain illegal in Pennsylvania because they are unattended, Britcher explained.

More like trapping than fishing except trapping is legal.
