New Rod and New Bait
« on: March 21, 2018, 03:20:06 PM »
I picked up an Ugly Stik cat rod for in the boat. Nothing fancy just a brute slayer rod that can take getting kicked around and not snap like a willow wand. While I was looking i spotted the vacuum packed shad. I have used fresh and frozen shad chunks in the past and they are killer baits. these are a far cry from fresh and tasty but I did catch one cat on them. Dead minnows were better though.

Used Ugly Sticks for years before I started building rods.  A guy down on this section of the river who is called the "Musky Man" also uses them.
