Cold water smallies
« on: February 21, 2021, 12:30:08 PM »
We are supposed to have a few warmer days this week.  Current water temp is 33 degrees.  I have never had much luck below 36.  Even if the air temperature gets into the 50s mid week I don't see the river getting above 34 or 35.

Anybody know if an increase of just a few degrees will turn them on?

I am with you on above 36 degrees. Especially if it goes 4-5 degrees in two days.

I would think a warm up might get them to bite. Try where streams empty into the river. Or maybe rip rap banks.
Some fishermen was catching some nice bass on Chillie Willies a few weeks ago.

Getting my boat serviced tomorrow and ready to go.

Edit: You may have to pick your days, sunny are best, enjoy that morning coffee, if you wait til noon or later you may do better.

Looks like we could get a couple foot rise on the river from the snow melt. Maybe that will put them in a biting mood.
Got my he boat serviced this morning and I'm ready to get out soon.

Zelmo they are catching  some nice smallmouths down around Harrisburg somewhere.

Water temperatures did get up to almost 40 but I didnt get out.  I have a project that I need to get finished and I didnt want to take time away from it.  I did hear that the fishing has been good.

I should be ready to hit the water in two or three weeks.
