Title: Any top water action, yet?
Post by: Brewguy on June 12, 2018, 12:31:49 PM
It's such a boring day today..

Has anyone been having luck with top water yet?  I have a bunch of whopper ploppers, a bat and a duck I want to start using.

I caught 1 pickerel on a popper that's it, I think we have just too much rain for the fish to get frisky

Wasent on the river sunday, but was on SHAHOLA,Last hour of lite we had a lot of action on baby bass rattling chugbug.
Landed a few bass,a Pickerel and a slammer gill.We need some warmer nites in my opinion to get a good top water bite.

Hit the conodoguinet last night, had 3 smallies on the plopper and 2 misses.  The one was pretty good size.

SM were starting to hit ploppers this morn in the Bloomsburg area. Had more misses than hook ups and the biggest was only about 14". Caught two small walleyes on a spinnerbait also.

Tried top water this morn and couldn't even get swirl, switch to a light brown gulp tube and caught at least a dozen SM but the biggest being about 13". Think the bigger ones are on vacation to recoup after spawning. Lots of people fishing!

I have not seen hide or hair of any of the larger smallmouths, since before the spawn. It has been a strange start to the summer fishing season. Everything has been really quiet.
