Title: Z-Man TRD CrawZ
Post by: neparon on August 30, 2019, 02:49:30 PM
Has anyone had success using Z-Man TRD CrawZ on the Finesse BulletZ Jig Head. I tried it with little success.

Never used that company's baits

I use a similar small crayfish imitation from another company...about 2-2 and 1/2 inches

I fish it on a stand up football jighead...puts the bait in a stand-up defensive position.

Works well for me in cold water.

I started using the trd crawz with the finesse bullet jig about two months ago and they have become my new favorite. They are virtually snag proof and I like how the claws float up with the elaztec material. I've been using California craw and Molting craw colors. Also if anyone is new to the Zman baits DO NOT mix them with regular plastisol...they will melt together.

I tried the ZMan craws on those little ZMan bullet jigheads they make for them... 1/5 oz I think is what I bought.  I fished them quite a bit this past season, thinking they'd take the place of Cabin Creeks or Smallie Beavers in my tackle bag.  Even though I fished the Zman craws more, I still think I caught more fish on Beavers and Cabin Creeks.  The durability factor is great with the ZMan craws but I haven't caught as many fish with them.  I usually throw Cabin Creeks early season and then Smallie Beavers are my staple from spawn til it's too cold to fish.

The bullet jigs are MUCH nicer than the ZMan ned rig mushroom heads which have really junky hooks.  The ZMan bullet jigs have substantial, sharp hooks... and like fishfinder says, they don't get snagged or hung up much.
