Hard to believe it is September and I can't find smallmouth.

Spent 3 hrs. in the waters around the power plant at Hummels Wharf. Brisk upriver wind. Air temp 57F and water 66F. I only had one hit on a green pumpkin tube. Twas a nice fish but not a very good showing for 3 hrs.

Hope they soon show up or start eating.

Same for me up river, they seem to have a case of lock jaw for awhile!

I really hate to leave the cat out of the bag but here goes.  They have been eating jerkbaits like kids eating candy for about three weeks now.  The lure I'm using is a new Rapala called the ripstop.  They want it fast, long cast, jerk, jerk, jerk, jerk, pause and repeat. very tiring over the course of a day but it catches fish.

Now I was out tonight from 730-9. Between 730-830 I had 5 like the one you were holding Dry. All were on crankbaits. All had a serious attitude once hooked. Also the complete opposite retrieve from ra. Steady and not overly fast, and they were slamming them. 2 of them hit and took drag immediately.

Dang!  I wish I could catch a fish on a crankbait.  I tried using one every time I went out this year and didn't catch one on a crankbait. I'm going to use one tomorrow morning and see if my luck can change.

If you have any of the xcalibur real craw, give them a shot. I had another 4 tonight in 45 minutes. But 1 was on a black gulp hellgrammite/clipper. They were all caught betweem 7-745 pm.
