Another Bad Day at Columbia
« on: September 21, 2017, 04:26:46 PM »
Harry and me were on the water about 7:15 this morning.  Started out in some grass beds just out from the launch but after a half hour we motored up to where we had a little success on Tuesday.  Nothing, so we went down into the area where Hobbie was fishing successfully yesterday and I fished the same lure that is still in the mouth of his fish in the pic.  Harry caught a 13 inch and an 8 inch on a hairball in that area.  Next we moved east and drifted down past the rocks to the south.  Harry had a good fish on but lost it.  We then ran back up to the riffs below 30 and fished down to our staring point where I finally had my first strike of the day and boated a 13 inch to keep from being skunked.  We had enough fun for one day and were back on the trailer at 2.

I guess I need Hobbie to show us how to fish that area because he always catches fish there.

I think we're ready to get back to C I even if we can't get to our favorite spots.

Wait until next year when Harry will also be retired. ;D

;D That's funny but I was just kidding.  It's not for sale, yet.  Everything that I call fun costs money.  As long as I don't run out before I die it's all good.

Ive been reading all these bad days on the river threads.
Broken gear stinks.
But the fishing, wheater catching or not os still a great day in my eyes....
Ive been out lots of times on the river and got skunked.
But i learned  and still enjoyed the day.
The catching isnt as important as the day on the water to me.
Just my opinion opinion.
I hope you have some better luck guys. ;)

I also wrote about some great days in June  through early Aug.  We had days with 25 -30 boated bass, a couple that were 40 to 50, even with a broken trolling motor.  I know not every day is going to be great.  We're both new to river fishing and haven't figured out this low 76 degree water yet but we will.  I've gotten some good tips here on the forum and I always post what works for us on those good days.  I'm retired so I can no longer relate to "a bad day fishing is better than a day at work" but it's still better than yard work, house work or cutting, splitting and stacking fire wood.  We don't keep anything, even up north, but catching a bunch of bass sure beats not catching a bunch of bass.

Busted gear sucks but some of it was busted or failed because I screwed up.  I'm on a learning curve and I know you have to pay to play.  At 72 I've taken a lot of trophy animals and caught a lot of fish.  My old retired Brittany had over 600 pheasants shot over him.  Sorry if I sound like I'm bitching but it's still more fun to succeed than not.

Tight lines everybody.

No. ,buddy..
It dont sound like your bitching.
I didnt mean it to sound that way.
Its just im usually fishing a lot and havent been able to get out much due to a sick family member.
Just trying to say a bad day fishin is still fishin.
Good luck.
