Young Carp?
« on: June 25, 2014, 11:43:15 PM »
Any of you river rats ever see a little carp? I mean one the size of a bluegill or even smaller. It is one of the mysteries of the river for me. I seem to start picking them up when the reach the 16 to 18 inch range. There has to be bazillions of them in the river but where are they? Deep, Shallow, in schools or what? I don't even know what one looks like.

come to think of it. no. i havent got anything smaller than around 15 or so.you would think the lil ones would hit worms from jigging ext. must be their diet or something that makes them elude capture when they are lil.im sure the toothies have thier fill of them lol.

Ha.
We've been asking the same question for YEARS up Pymatuning.  Literally MILLIONS of carp 2-4 foot long floating in schools all over that lake. NEVER seen a little guy.

All the carp you see ARE the babies. The adults are huge leviathans that lurk in the deepest holes, waiting for floods. Then, and only then, do they come out and eat everything in the river.
That's why the fishing sucks after big floods.... ::)
