We all know that the Susquehanna is a great smallmouth fishery. I can tell you that it has some great largemouth also.
My boat is fiberglass with a prop, so I am limited to the deeper pools like Frederic, Clarke, and Conowingo. In the past I have struggled to find the smallmouth during the middle of the summer, so this year I decided to see what I could do with largemouth. I started throwing larger baits in areas that I thought should hold the green fish and it has paid off.
Each trip out has produced numerous fish that have been over 4 lbs and quite a few over 5 lbs. Although I don't have the camera skills of others here are a few from my boat and a friends:
5.8 lbs (https://i.imgur.com/qxRVenH.jpg)
5.2 lbs (https://i.imgur.com/yTPOQAP.jpg)
And the kicker at 6.9 lbs (https://i.imgur.com/9lekhC3.jpg)
I know the big fish doesn't look like much in the picture but that was a function of being in a hurry to get it back in the water. Interesting that the fish are not long but they are fat.

Yes, it is a horrible picture for a great fish.
