25 Mar 2019 - Monster PB Channel Cat

First fish of the day yesterday was a tank. In spite of knowing that nothing for the rest of the day would come close to comparing I stuck around and racked up a total of over twenty channels. All fis released and all caught on a variety of left over ice fishing minnows some dead and some live and sacrificed. Action was none stop once i got them primed, a couple doubles and a triple to add to my confusion. This spot has given up multiple 30's, some 31's. a couple 32's and now a 34 inch 18.8 pound beast. I go to it once a year in the spring and let it sit for the rest of the year. They all go back and it seems to work.

12 Mar 2019 - Ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

The bear has come out of hibernation!!

He is hungry!!

And fish are on the menu!!

So many signs of Spring!! Grackles, cowbirds, red-winged blackbirds and robins are all back. Geese  are flying. Crocuses are blooming. Black stone flies are emerging on the Susquehanna and sea gulls are coming up from the Chesapeake Bay. Mergansers and loons are on the water.

And the water temp has reached that magical number 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Picked up 8 smallies in about 2 hours this AM and missed another 5-6. Either the bears reflexes are still asleep or the smallmouth were just toying with the bear. Grrrrr!!!  :)

Most were in the 2-2.5 pound bracket with a couple of 3 pounders thrown in the mix.

The bear is happy !!   ;)  ;D
