Ice Out Channel Cat Tips
« on: July 10, 2017, 02:04:36 PM »
I came across a pretty informative article written by In-Fisherman about targeting ice out channel cats in reservoirs and rivers. The link is copied and pasted below. The author had some worthwhile things to say about the nuances of targeting early spring cats on small and medium sized rivers that I thought would be applicable to this thread. The first part of the article pertains to hunting ice out cats in reservoirs where winter die off of any prolific baitfish  such as shad or alewives can spur the best fishing of the year for cats at ice out. Not to stray from the topic, but considering how many alewives are in the Pack, and how many large channel cats are in there, it's a tactic I'm willing to try out next Spring at the Pack. Anyways, some good info here. Just thought I would pass it along...........
