Fished the Wrightsville area 7/12/17
« on: July 13, 2017, 06:29:47 PM »
I went down to the Wrightsville area on a tip from another guy who fishes the area regularly. I need some depth without a lot of fast current to operate the hobie. I was very pleased with this stretch of the river. I used a rapala almost the whole time and caught bass consistently for 4 hours. No monsters but almost all of them were 10-16". I caught at least 30 bass, a lot of fun. Most of them hit the rapala upon hitting the surface, or just a few cranks of the handle. I'm always amazed by how hard some of them strike, a couple knocked the lure up off the surface, a few feet in the air!

I have a Hobie Pro Angler Kayak. It is a great fishing craft and good exercise as well.

Yes, I like x-raps for largemouths as well. There is something about the silver with red feather tail that drives them nuts.

I have had a fair amount of success with the perch and bass colors myself. Although the one I always return to is the small cordell big o. In fact they have come out with a couple of new colors. The moon eyed shad has been good to me recently.
