Susquehanna river in Williamsport
« on: August 02, 2017, 12:31:03 PM »
Hi guys,

First post here but long time reader. I have a small club tournament next weekend out of the Linder launch above Williamsport. I have never had my boat on this part of the river so I have no idea what to expect. I'm thinking of prefishing a day or two next week but I have no idea where to start or what to look for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum buzzbait4me!
We have a few river lots couple hundred yards down river from the Linden Boat Launch… so we use it and fish that area every weekend!  Super clean launch, very easily assessable even when the water in low and tons of parking!

**Down river towards Williamsport is decent, there are old logging “cribs” on the right side of the river all the way down we do well in and around them – Also, hit the bridges (Arch Street) and then (Maynard Street) … both spots will produce keepers but I wouldn’t spend a whole lot of time here

**Up river towards Linden is where it is at, head towards Crain Island (maybe 5-7 miles up from the launch) – that will produce real nice SMB, really dark colored bass around 3.5-4.5lbs!

Another good spot is on up past Crain island, maybe another 1-2 miles up they call it “Crain’s Riffles” you can only get up through that section with high water or a jet motor but we fish right below the riffles in that section and it’s money!

---  GPS coordinates for Crain Island:   41.203437, -77.200231

  ---  GPS coordinates for “Crain’s Riffles”:  41.213146, -77.234550

BonScott78 can an outboard motor get past the first set of ripples just as your going next to Crain island.  I was hesitant go any further.

Shouldn’t have a problem normally, but the river levels are down right now – NOAA has it at 1.3 ft today and 1.0 ft by end of the week!
I would wait for some rain or just take it slow and steady and try to navigate around any obstacles!
