7/12/18 City Island

Wish I could say we clobbered them but I can't.  We were headed up river at 7:15 and ran straight up to the ledge and wasted 45 min. without a bite.
Half way to the I81 bridge we both got one then below the bridge Harry caught two and they were the big ones of the day at 1 1/2 lb.  Drifted the rocky stretch along Front St and hit a rock that left Harry sprouled out on his back on the deck.  Headed for the ramp at 1:15. Total for the day was me 2 and Harry 7.  Except for his two at 1 1/2 they were all 12 inches or less.


I talked to a guy at the ramp who said he's been fishing the river since 1990 and has never seen the fishing this slow.






Forgot to mention we saw three dead cat fish belly up.

It has been an off year everywhere, not just the Susquehanna. I have a buddy that fishes the Indian River Inlet in DE. 2 weeks ago he was sending pics of his best stripers of the week, 1 42" and another at 28". When we hooked up to talk, he was blown away by what he caught. The reason he was blown away, he said those fish should of been gone from the inlet at least 2-3 weeks prior. So even the bay and inlets seem off at this point also. Although by it being off, he is having his best year for spring striper fishing, at 107 caught. Maybe it will be a gangbuster fall season for us.
