Summer 2018 flood
« on: July 26, 2018, 09:31:33 PM »
Penns Creek crested above flood stage late Wednesday night.....flooding the lower street in Selinsgrove.

South Water Street in Selinsgrove looking east......

South Water Street looking south...

Houses along Creek Rd. near the airport...

The Susquehanna crested where I live mid-day today...

Boat Access on the isle of Que looking south down the ramp...

Boat Access on isle of Que looking north.....

This is the ramp looking from the river at normal summer flows...

Front Street on the Isle of Que was closed below the boat access area....

Gonna be a while 'till things get back to normal.

Do not have any pics from Harrisburg. Now when I crossed the south bridge in rush hour traffic, at 530 going 10 mph. I noticed 2 really nice looking, log jams on the east side of city island, on the market street bridge. The west side, same bridge, looked like a new log jam almost at the shore. Water level is almost even with the parking lots. You can still see asphalt. Going to drive up to the ridge tonight, to just look around. Just looked on google earth for distances. The swatara creek 2 days ago, was out of its bank by 400', on Fulling Mill road. That was a sight to see, she is still high and running fast! 1i, if I take any pics I will email them to you. Still cant get them on here.

Drone footage

Those drones are really cool.

Back in the 50's I fished trout at William's Grove Amusement Park (now gone) and down along the trailer park in the Yellow Breeches Creek.

I found those drone pics yesterday.  Pretty neat.

The park might be gone but fortunately the track is still there.  They cancelled last night's race around 3:15 PM due to the gounds being too saturated to prepare for racing.  No better spectator sport than 410 sprint cars.  Beats the hell out watching big over grown, overpaid, cry babies play with a dog toy. ;D

Does anyone remember how long it took the river to become fishable after Lee in 2011?

These webcams are on all the time.

https://www.longlevelmarina.com/webcams

I have mainly used them to see if there is ice on the river or the ramps, but you can see the debris in the water now and how high it is.  It actually looks better than I thought it would.

Not exactly in your neck of the woods, Bill, but it might help.
