"Flashabou"
« on: December 28, 2018, 04:31:56 PM »
Another inch of rain in the yard gauge this AM...but the rain stopped in the morning and air temps were in the high 40's.
River is predicted to rise again so I took advantage of the lull in the rain.

I considered what I might do to stimulate the bite and so I added some "flashabou" to an Undulator. Flashabou is a metallic material that I use to use to make flies and hair jigs. I guess it simulates the flash of a wounded baitfish. Used a piece of red head tying thread to help secure the material and wound up with this....yum!!

First cast brought this beautiful 3 lb 14 oz. smallie out of hiding.

Four smaller bass also attacked my creation...but I'm not sure if it really is any better than the bare Undulator. But I had fun trying something different  ;)  :)

Good on you getting out there today. We had a little over 2" of rain here in central VA since midnight and still more on the way. Rivers have shot up 4' so far. Nice looking smallie and "flair" on the plastic! Hope the weather continues to hold up for you, I'm enjoying the posts!

Apparantly that inch of rain we had here is not going to raise the Susquehanna much...and the weather through New Years Day looks pretty mild with periods of rain (no kidding :o)...might be some good fishing yet in 2018 before the cold weather of 2019.
