The Bear Again
« on: March 15, 2019, 06:03:57 PM »
The bear did not go back into hibernation after his fishing trip earlier this week.
This morning the bear got up early and raked the back yard then went out to the range to sight in a new scope.
After lunch he took Mrs. Bear grocery shopping...and when they got home the temperature on the bear's back porch was 80F ???

So...you know where Mr. Bear went...don't you!!  ;)  :)

Water temp was 43F with about a foot of visibility (a little stained). From 2:15 to 4:15 the bear caught 16 smallmouth.
Most of them were chunky 1.5 to 2 pounders. (Yes and the black spots sre still around)

But two were very close to 3 pounds and one was 3 1/4 pounds.

I tried tubes but nada. Every fish was caught on the diminutive Willie Wannabe on a 1/8 oz stand-up jig

And...another sign of spring...snow geese

That a boy.....I mean "bear"!
I'll be up in a couple weeks, at least one day on your neck of the river. Hope to see a bear near the bank, I'll be looking for you.

Hi Dry, do you put rings on the willie wanabe for silicone or flash? I see the wacky rings are to big.

Willie comes with the silicone and the o-ring attached

I add silicone or flashabou to the undulator
To add more attraction and I tie red thread around the head or add my own o-ring

Nice going Bill.  I didn't see my thermometer much over 60 back east here.
The older I get, the better I used to be.

I am sure you can buy smaller o rings at the hardware store or online.

Or you can tie a piece of red floss around the head of the trailer to get the silicone in place.
