Feeding on the surface

They were feeding on the shad. This spit out 6-8 in the boat.

Casted to surface breaks. Action ended after pleasure craft came through three times.

So where were you fishing, Columbia, Harrisburg, Bloomsburg?  Why are your pictures so small?  Glad somebody is catching something.
The older I get, the better I used to be.

Muddy creek access. I thought the bigger pictures might not be appreciated as the smaller ones load faster.

I wish I would have been more prepared: they were tearing off my Kietechs so I threw the Fire tiger warpig (would have preferred a white lure, already had firetiger on). I wish I would have had jerkbait and buzzbait ready also.

I've been having a hard time finding a steady pattern this summer, one day its tubes, next day swimbaits with different color variations, some days top water. In all, its been an interesting and challenging summer season catching lots of small and mid-size SM, not many over 17". Best part should be coming up soon, until then it sure beats working!

Sounds just like my experience this year! I have not caught any real large SM this summer. I was out again Thurs nite, too much chop to zero in on surface feeding. They are hitting that bait hard. Funny even though the river must be low up north, with these dams the water was a little high.
