How would you rate this day?

I have expressed frustration in several threads regarding my lack of success in cold water.  Yesterday I decided to go to the Conowingo Pool as I had never been there before at this time of year, but I knew of several spots that seemed promising based on what I have been reading about bass fishing in cold water.

I tried many spots and different baits with generally the same results as usual.  I caught one  bass.  But what a fish!  It measured a bit over 21" and weighed 5lbs 4oz.  At first I thought I was snagged and when I lifted the rod I figured it was a branch as it came up.  It wasn't until I got it near the surface and it jumped that I realized what it was.

So would you you consider catching a smallmouth that is your personal best a good day when it is the only fish you caught?

Yessir... sounds like a good day to me!

In my silly mind, a good day is a day that meets one or more of the following criteria:

1.  Catch a LOT of fish
2.  Catch a REALLY BIG fish
3.  Catch a bunch of different kind of fish

If you keep your expectations realistic, you will be happier with your fishing!!!  Everybody wants to go out and slay them all the time, but we need to be realistic as anglers.

Catching a 5+ pound Pennsylvania smallie is a rare treat/feat.  Nice work, sir!
