I was poking around the NOAA site and found this for the HBG gauge:

Low Water Records
(1) 1.83 ft on 09/13/1964
(2) 2.46 ft on 09/25/1963
(3) 2.48 ft on 11/29/1930
(4) 2.59 ft on 09/28/1959
(5) 2.67 ft on 11/06/1964

I can't imagine the river at 1.83!

I could tell when I took out yesterday the level had not come up.

Looks like they have not generated for 3 days. Correction 1 small unit.

The reading at HBG is still only 3.1.  I drove up to Amity Hall today. I saw one boat there but none from there down to just above Forster Street.  Nobody parked at Fort Hunter.  Three boats were in that area.  I assume that they had launched at City Island as there were a few trailers in that lot.

No wonder the deeper pools have been busier than normal.

At less than 3.7 I can't get past River Plaza Apartments without hitting something, launching from CI.  There is a private ramp under I 81 on the west side but i don't see how you could get past the ledge above 81 this shallow.  There is a small ramp on the west side across from Fort Hunter and slightly north.
The older I get, the better I used to be.

To clarify, the boats I saw were just north of Forster St not at Ft Hunter.  I could have worded that better.

Now here is a skinny water boat for you.

The trick is to make sure it is in the water.

Did you see this happen? Looks like the strap is still attached. Released the winch too early? Fortunately I have to fight to get my boats off their trailers.

Yes.  The strap was attached but the winch wasn't locked down and it just played out as he was backing down the ramp.  After I helped them with it he told me he had launched last week and couldn't get the boat off the trailer.  He jacked the boat up and oiled the rollers.  Apparently it worked.

Oh the things you see at the launch ramps. That's funny
But I'm sure it wasn't at the time.

Looks like the river is going to shoot up half decent, 5' is probably my favorite depth. Enough current the fish start stacking up.
Much more, and for me it starts getting dangerous.

Probably the most water we have seen since May 1st.
Guess it's time to see how the new Crestliner handles the faster current. will be a good test...

I donít have a rain gauge so I can only guess until I see the official report.  The rain was steady all day but the heavy downpours never materialized.  I think that we probably got an inch.

Not sure yet how much the river is going up - they have already revised that estimate down.  They should have a better idea tomorrow.

0.33 inches at Safe Harbor yesterday. I am surprised they had their site updated this early.
Newport is up to 3.95 from 3.3"

That is the report they put out yesterday, Phil.

Yesterday I saw the prediction for HBG to get to 4.9'.  Last night that was down to 4.4".  This morning it is at 3.8'.

Correct. Now I know why I thought their post was early! Don't even know what day of the week it is!  ;)
