Up here things aren't to busy. During the week less than 1/2 dozen boats, weekends maybe a dozen.
I don't blame you for not wanting to beat your new boat up. Just nice knowing you have a boat that you can run in skinny water.

Glad to hear you got a chance to get out with Phil. Sounds like Phil is pretty seasoned with his Jon.
That's really makes it nice having someone showing you hazards and dangers in a section of river.

Black Friday there is a Toys for Tots Tournament up here that got moved from Sunbury.
I'm not going to fish it. Not really my thing.
Sometimes I do like to see where people are fishing.  I will probably go see the weigh in and see how ppl made out.

31 degrees this morning clear skies, water temp 42 degrees...It was cold. Took the Jon out and went in the skinny water this morning.

Caught this one which was 18'...measured
Also caught a few others, they really wasn't in real deep water this morning. Main channel is approx 2' of water with some deeper pockets.
Overall not to bad of a morning.

You did well for such conditions.
I walked the shoreline for exercise this afternoon but nada.
Maybe if I had gone out like you did in the morning I night have found a couple...bright sun this PM
Beautiful day... to which your pictures do absolutely attest.

Dry
Bright sun and shallow water kind of surprised me. Not what I was really expecting, but not complaining.
Still have to give the boat a push off the trailer to launch. Still Skinny even with the rain.

Phil
Thanks!
Still no consistency with the fish but that 18' helps.

Well done.  Is the water still clear?  I am surprised that you found them in shallow water.

Water is fairly clear but with the recent rain, it has a slight tint to it. Not totally clear.
Not really sure what was holding them fish there. Not a whole lot of structure.
I have caught fish down river about 100 yards when there was higher water.

Took my fishing rod for a good walk today...no fish  :-[
It was pretty windy that's why I didn't take the boat out.

Toys for Tots tournament yesterday. 31 boats fishing, quite a few boats didn't weigh fish in.
Winning weight was 11.25 lb- 5 fish
Lunker was 2.89 lb

Zelmo saw a boat that was the same make as yours. Was impressed with it.
Also saw my first Snyder boat there. Was impressed with that too. Had to smile he almost got in trouble with that. Run the back side of an island that barely has water. Said he was doing a lot of scraping on gravel but didn't let up.

Looks like up here we might hit 3' of water by Tuesday which is good. Maybe fish will start stacking.

I got out for a little bit on Sunday. 26 degrees in the morning . High ended up being 52 but the wind became a problem in the afternoon.
Did a lot of running, made it up through Cranes riffles but didn't get any hits up there. Main channel there was 2.2' and fast moving. Got to love them Jets!
Only 1 fish for yesterday, probably around 13" didn't even bother measuring. "ned"

This week isn't looking to great...Rain today, chance of snow tomorrow and then onto colder temps.
The river is going to get a slight boost. I like fishing with 5' of water.

I know the weather was great yesterday but it was Sunday and I try to avoid fishing on weekends.  Since I got out on Friday I decided to get some stuff done the wife has been bugging me about.  I also used the nice weather to put up the outdoor Christmas lights.  While I would never label that chore as pleasurable warmer temps make it much more bearable.

I am looking forward to the river rising, and I don't care what the temps are.  I have been waiting for more water to try some new ramps and sections of the river for me.  I plan to idle around and take note of depths.  Fishing will be secondary.

This time of year I don't have to worry about weekend traffic a whole lot. 2 boats where I launched Sunday.
The latest river forecast for me they have knocked it down to 4.5',  from the 5.4' which is still ok.
Glad your going to be able to test some ramps out. It will give you some idea what your running in depth wise.
Maybe even mark your routes with your depth finder.
As long as the ice stays off the river I will still be running it, or walking it like Dry  :). I have enjoyed that too.

Wind forecast for Thursday morning looks OK right now. Might be my last day this year. Heading to Potter Co Saturday!

Another cold but nice day. It's nice to get out and get some exercise.
Water was pretty clear and dropping.

2 rods today, one was a slow rolling spinner bait and I tested a Fitt Big Willie. I lost one but that's part of fishing slow.

I put the strands on myself.I had a few spare spinner bait skirts sitting around.

I mentioned before I don't really like fishing the river when there is strong winds. This happened this week sometime. pretty much right on the path.
That would have left a mark  ;D

No fish today, I believe a couple bites. The fish in that area are hit and miss. And it's either they aren't biting or they don't like what I'm serving, Haven't figured that out yet.  :)
